GBN Awards

Businesses in the Tees Valley who want to make positive improvements to their environmental performance can receive support and recognition through the Tees Valley Green Business Network. Your business has the opportunity to achieve a bronze, silver or gold award to reward your efforts in operating in an environmentally responsible way.

Help through the Green Business Network partners provides hands on support and rewards environmental business excellence. A network of organisations provides impartial advice and services – often at no cost to you.

Plus, the more that a business gets involved the more it will benefit from cost savings, good publicity, staff motivation and legislative compliance.

Well, apart from the awards and services available, environmental initiatives can make good business sense too, as outlined below: 

  • Reducing your energy and water use and the amount of waste you generate can save money 
  • Demonstrating your commitment to environmental performance can be a great selling point and improve your image within the community 
  • Showing that your business is doing its bit can improve morale amongst your staff 
  • Tidy and clean premises will make your business more attractive to customers

Help and support available

Companies who apply for the Bronze Level Award can access a range of services, which can be tailor made to individual requirements. Some of the services available include:

Recycling 

  • Access to a recycling directory listing local recyclers
  • Assistance with waste related issues 
  • Material exchange linking you with other organisations who may be able to reuse your waste, saving waste disposal costs

Reducing Utility Bills 

  • Assistance with carbon foot printing
  • Help and advice with monitoring and reducing utility usage

Understanding environmental legislation 

  • Help to understand present and future environmental legislation
  • Access to advisors who can outline what legislation is applicable to your business

Implementing environmental improvements 

  • Help with developing an environmental policy
  • Help setting up an environmental management system

Communicating your environmental achievements 

  • Your business will be listed on the Green Business Network website
  • Gold, Silver and Bronze awards to display in your business
  • Press releases and case studies will be developed for good environmental practice

Award Assessment

  • Bronze

    The Bronze level is self-assessed – visit the online tick-list and when you´ve completed the actions and ticked the boxes you can submit form to be approved for a Bronze Award. To help you complete the form there are help screens with additional information. Each application is reviewed by a Green Business Network partner, you may be contacted via e-mail should any further clarification be required.
     
  • Silver & Gold

    Silver and Gold are assessed by the Green Business Network partners. Once you have achieved bronze level we can provide you with a silver resource pack that is full of useful information, contact details and a checklist. When you feel you have completed the requirements of the Award simply contact us, we will arrange a verification visit and approval for the Award. Once Silver is complete it is the same process for Gold.
