GBN Award Holders

Silver Award

To qualify for a Silver Award your business needs to achieve the following and be able to provide supporting evidence.

  • A GBN Bronze Award.  
  • Calculated your carbon footprint*. 
  • Carried out a free environmental review* provided by a GBN partner and implemented at least one of the recommendations. The reviews available could cover waste/water, energy, travel or green purchasing. 
  • At least one initiative to reduce or recycle waste
  • At least one initiative to save energy or water
  • Demonstrate improvements achieved as a result of these initiatives e.g. by means of documented records.
  • Show clear management commitment to the environment through one or more of the following: an environmental policy*, a purchasing policy*, a waste management policy*, and/or evidence of environmental criteria in staff training or job descriptions.
  • Demonstrate visibility / awareness of your environmental commitment either through visible policy documentation, public relations and/or physical evidence which is obvious to staff, visitors, customers and/or passers-by (e.g. displaying your GBN Award logo). 

* To help you meet the Silver criteria, the GBN can provide you with the following:

  • Assistance with calculating your carbon footprint. Click here for more information about carbon footprinting.
  • A free review of your choice (waste/water, energy, travel or green purchasing) carried out by a GBN partner organisation, either by phone or a site visit. This review will make recommendations, and provide support, as to how you can improve your environmental performance. In most cases it will also identify cost-savings and other business benefits.
  • Assistance with developing an environmental policy, a purchasing policy and/or a waste management policy to be tailored by you to your business.  See these links for more, general information about these topics:

Once your application has been received and checked to ensure your business qualifies you will receive your certificate and Silver Award logo.
