To qualify for a Gold Award your business needs to achieve the following and be able to provide supporting evidence.
- Both a GBN Bronze and Silver Award.
- Evidence of an environmental management system* (either a formal accredited system or equivalent auditable system) including targets and regular monitoring either in place or in development.
- At least one sustainable travel* initiative such as a Green Travel Plan, car sharing or incentives to reduce car use.
- Evidence of wider community engagement related to the environment (e.g. contribution to the Tees Valley Climate Change Partnership, schools environmental projects, conservation volunteering, sponsorship of local green space/litter bins or routine ‘front of premise’ clean-ups) and other community activities e.g. fund raising, sponsorship etc. or
- Evidence of consideration being given to preparing the business for the implications of climate change (climate change adaptation) e.g. assessment of risks / opportunities and development of business continuity plans.

Once your application has been received you will receive a visit from a GBN partner to review your application. If your business qualifies you will receive your certificate and Gold Award logo.
